Do You Watch Dog Shows on Television?

Numerous people have told me that they enjoy watching canine shows on Television. Nearly always, they’re pertaining to the Westminster Kennel Club periodic show in February. If you watch dog shows on TV you must aware of WKC Schedule. What most observers do not realize is that they’re seeing only a small part of the whole show. Canine shows correspond of three situations of competition. They’re the Strain competition for all tykes entered in the show, the Group competition for the Strain winners only, and the Stylish In Show competition for the seven Group winners. The Westminster Kennel Club canine show has an entry limit of tykes-due to the space constraints of the show point-Madison Square Garden. The American Kennel Club presently recognizes 170 types. That means that, if all types are represented, only 170 out of the entry of, will be on Television in the Group competition in the evening that’s televised. That’s only6.8 of all the tykes entered. All honored AKC canine types are divided into seven Groups. They’re the Sporting Group, the Hound Group, the Working Group, the Terrier Group, the Toy Group, theNon-Sporting Group, and the Herding Group. The Herding Group is the newest- having been resolve off from the Working Group in 1983. The93.2 of the entered tykes that do not move on to the Group competition were all defeated in the Breed/ Variety judging.

An intriguing sidelight of this particular canine show, which is different from nearly all other AKC approved all- strain shows, is that it’s”benched”. This means that half (since it’s a 2 day show, half are judged on the first day and half on the alternate) of the tykes must be in the”benching” area for the whole day and are not allowed to leave until all judging is over. At utmost canine shows, after you lose, you can leave, if you want. Observers are allowed to wander through the”benching” area and it becomes relatively congested and hot (I have been there with my Collies). As all observers know, the Group competitions are followed on the alternate night of Group judging by the Stylish In Show competition between the seven Group winners. WKC Schedule have all the data related to dog shows of high quality breeds.

A new invention in recent times-not officially connected with the Westminster Kennel Club or the American Kennel Club-is thePre-Westminster Fashion Show which coming time will be on Friday, February 10, 2012, at the Hotel Pennsylvania, across the road from Madison Square Garden. The Hotel Pennsylvania is where I stayed with my Collie the two times I showed at Westminster. This circus will be a good place to catch up on what’s going on in the world of fashionable canine clothes.

StephenM. Johns has been breeding and showing his own Collies for 20 times. He has finished over 40 Titleholders and earned Obedience and Herding titles on some of them, as well. He has had 4 Top Ten Smooth Collies in that time that he showed tête-à-tête and three further that he bred andco-owned that were shown by others.
